Renaissance

This is the last week of my family and I living in our house before we move to our Oakland apartment (more on that here if you missed the announcement!). Of course with any change, there’s always a dull, aching sadness for the chapter of life that’s ending, but more than anything else, I’m excited for our new adventures. The thing about the past is you can’t get too caught up in it. I’m the first to say I’m a sucker for nostalgia, but you can’t get stuck reminiscing about the past.

The other day, I was going through old artwork from when I was in preschool when we lived in Connecticut which got me thinking of what life would be like if I had stayed in Connecticut. Would I have gotten into fashion, photography, and studied graphic design? Would I have the same friends now I grew up with? Would I have eventually moved to New York City? Part of my heart aches for the life I left behind, but you can’t worry about what could have been because life is all about ebbs and flows, change, and progress.

Anyway, I bought this top and bottom from Need Supply Co. when they were having a really good Labor Day sale (they still have lots on sale btw!). I’ve been increasingly drawn to dramatic bell sleeves and open necklines.

Now let’s talk about these earrings for a quick sec. While I love me a good statement earring, I don’t like something heavy that pulls down my earlobes. I wasn’t sure how these Connection Earrings from AUrate would jive, but I’m happy to report I wore them all day and they were so light, I hardly felt them! They also felt sturdy and well-made. I think these are my new favorite earrings.
