A day at the museum

a trip to the museum - drifter and the gypsy blog

For my art history class, one of our assignments was to take ourselves on a field trip to a museum and write about our experience. I went to the Legion of Honor. They had a Matisse exhibit going on that I was excited to see because we studied about Matisse in our textbook. Although the exhibit was much smaller than what I thought it would be, that was okay, because I was able to see lots of other artwork that was in my textbook, which was pretty cool. I found myself more knowledgable of artistic styles and was able to correctly date different artworks without looking. Everything wasn’t as overwhelming.

They have an Anders Zorn exhibit that I want to see when I go back. I love living by a big city and being able to visit museums like these. It really is a privilege. Do you like going to museums too?

Those pigeons sitting on top of the statue… they crack me up.

As a side note, how awesome are these Venus Flytrap Earrings from Stephanie Simek? They’re made with a real live Venus Flytrap; a work of art in themselves!

  • Hey!

I hope that you’ll get to see the Anders Zorn exhibition, he’s great. We have a summerhouse in Sweden (cause my dad is Swedish) close to where Zorn used to live. We’ve visited his house a couple of times, and it’s so beautiful!
